B.Arch(Sir J. J. College of Architecture) M.Phil (IIT Bombay) Following her education in architecture, Sonam turned towards the social sciences to comprehend holistic influences of built environment on people. She was felicitated with the Best Teacher’s Award (2016) by Maharashtra Association of Schools of Architecture and has received research grants from the Indian Ministry of Culture in 2017, Saint Gobain Scholarships in 2018, and the Sahapedia | UNESCO Fellowship in 2018.
Objective for the course
The course aims at revisiting the core rationales of design from a human-centric approach and understand the impact of design and planning on behaviour of people. We shall study the effects of continuous physical settings on various aspects of behavior.
Framework of the course
The basic framework for the course pivots on Personal space, territoraility, privacy, crowding, and small group ecology. Every design will be studied from these lenses.
Methodology followed
The course will follow case-centric approach. Here we will study architectural cases to understand the experientiality of spaces. We shall discuss the good, the bad and the ugly practices in design to study the rationale behind those practices.
