About the Workshop

This is a three-day workshop that aims to enable students to take up the issue of Migrant workers through the brief of the Designaddvance competition as a design problem. It will empower the participants to arrive at a solution that is sustainable, resilient and innovative. The workshop covers brainstorming sessions from the design standpoint and also equips you with the necessary BIM tools to enable an efficient outcome.

About the competition

With a migrant exodus in the initial days of the lockdown taking the centre-stage in several Indian cities, do we, as architects and designers, actually believe that everyone deserves a safe place to live? Isn’t it our duty to enable better habitats for the migrant workers - the very people who help build and run our cities? Join us in this short workshop as we put ourselves in their shoes and understand liveable spaces that cater to their well-being.

Workshop Outcomes

  • Empathise

for a better understanding of humanitarian architecture through interactive exercises and explorations.

  • Develop

context and user-specific design solutions and usage of BIM to arrive at solutions.

  • Enhance

your understanding of the design of habitats for dignity, security and safety of different migrant groups, at a macro and a micro level on the sites.

Who should take this course?

  • Institutes that would want to take up the competition brief as a design exercise
