Tony Joseph
Principal and Founder- Stapati
Tony Joseph’s passion for both science and the arts led him to architecture. After earning a physics degree, he pursued architecture at MIT, Manipal, and later completed his M.Arch at the University of Texas, Austin, under the Charles Moore program.
In 1989, he founded Stapati, now a leading multidisciplinary firm with offices in Calicut, Kochi, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Known for blending contemporary design with regional narratives, Stapati has delivered acclaimed hospitality projects like Kumarakom Lake Resort, Kerala, Alila Diwa, Goa, and the Enchanted Island Resort, Seychelles.
A major milestone was leading the $300 million Cap Ternay resort in Seychelles, which expanded Stapati’s global presence. Always evolving, Joseph continues to shape architecture that is innovative, sustainable, and deeply rooted in context.

Varsha Gavandi
Landscape Architect, Partner at RAVI & VARSHA GAVANDI
Varsha completed her B. Arch from BKPS College of Architecture, Pune, India in 1986 and her M. Arch in Landscape Architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, India in 1988. She has been actively involved in academics for over 20 years as a guest lecturer and a jury member for various landscape architecture courses. Varsha was the Vice President of the Indian Society of Landscape Architects in 2011 – 12.
