Let's break some Myths around Glass.
The truth is, there is no black or white, good or bad when it comes to the selection of building materials. The appropriation entirely depends on how the material is used and in what context.
While the use of Glass could be considered intelligent in certain cases, like glass facades on the north or east facades in the context of tropical India; one can understand the material and innovate to tackle its behaviour to suit all facades.
For that, it is important firstly, to gain in-depth knowledge about the material itself. Secondly, to understand its behaviour in various situations in the built environment and finally to be able to innovate and transform its weaknesses to its strengths, making it contribute to user comfort and spatial well-being.
This course will be specifically looking at enhancing your holistic understanding of Glass and strengthening your ability to identify approaches of using Glass as a material for well-being in the design of the built environment.
The course shall explore
What is meant by ‘Well-being’? What factors contribute to the sense of Physical and Psychological well-being?
How the sense of well-being is directly connected with the design of the Built Environment.
Well-Being and GLASS, in the Built Environment.
What are Green rating systems? What do they say about the decisive parameters for well-being?
What are the ways and means in which innovations in technology could contribute to enhancing the strengths of Glass as a material that brings spatial well-being?
The course will focus on the aesthetic, functional, technological and contextual aspects of Glass, In short it would provide a holistic understanding of all aspects woven together
